Diagnostics

Today various diseases can only be proven with a sufficiently high level of certainty by means of expensive tests which are also very time-consuming. There is therefore an urgent need for reliable tests which can be carried out simply.

Using FTIR spectroscopy, a whole range of highly specific data can be rapidly generated without great effort. Through the use of modern computer-aided analytical methods such as pattern recognition, expert systems and multivariate data analysis, even complex biological systems, such as those represented by bodily fluids, can be analyzed and characterized.

FTIR diagnostics do not necessarily detect antibodies or indirect markers of antibodies per se like conventional diagnostic blood tests. Rather, the underlying effects of the disease on the organism and the changes in chemical composition of a bodily fluid are measured in their entirety.

Each new area for the application of this system, whether it is Agro-Food analysis or clinical diagnostics, merely requires the development of a novel algorithm (neural network). Existing databases can be expanded accordingly. Therefore the novel product is immediately available world-wide, and can be marketed directly without training of laboratory personnel. The aim of the company is to substitute conventional diagnostics in many areas; a singular measurement will allow the diagnosis of several diseases. Thereby it can contribute dramatically to the early recognition of diseases as well as prudent patient-check-ups – one of the future focal points of clinical diagnostics. micro-biolytics develops applications and user-friendly systems in co-operation with DiaSpec GmbH, in order to provide diagnostic tests for various uses.

Press release
Prof.Dr.D.Wolf
The head of the scientific advisory board of micro-biolytics, Prof. Dr. D. Wolf, is given the ‚Landesforschungspreis 2007’. Prof. Dr. Frankenberg, Minister of Science of Baden-Württemberg presented this tribute to Prof. Wolf to honour „outstanding research results and excellent researchers“.

Room for Growth
For the expansion of laboratory-, production- as well as service-space, mbio has moved to a new location at Esslingen (Stuttgart). The expansion was necessary to cope with increasing service and production demands regarding the AquaSpecTM Technology.
